Deforestation
Deforestation means cutting down trees at random and destroying forests. It is one of the greatest problems of the modern world. Trees are our best friends. They give us oxygen, food, shelter, timber, shade and many other things. They also help maintain ecological balance.
But people cut down trees for housing, fuel, agriculture and commercial purposes. As a result, forests are shrinking day by day. Deforestation causes many harmful effects. It increases carbon dioxide in the air and raises the temperature of the earth. It also causes soil erosion, drought, flood and loss of biodiversity.
Birds and animals lose their habitats, and the environment becomes unsafe for living beings. If deforestation continues, our future will be in great danger. We should plant more trees and protect existing forests. The government should take strict measures to stop illegal tree cutting. Public awareness is also necessary.
Only then can we save our environment and life on earth.
Subject: My preparation for the coming SSC exam
Dear Munna/Munni,
I hope you are doing well. I am also fine here. You wanted to know about my preparation for the coming SSC examination, so I am writing this e-mail to share it with you.
At present, I am studying regularly and following a strict routine. I have already completed almost all the chapters of my syllabus. I am now revising every subject carefully. Mathematics and English need special attention, so I am giving more time to them. I also solve previous years' question papers to improve my speed and confidence.
My teachers are helping me a lot, and my parents are encouraging me all the time. I hope I can do well in the exam if I continue my hard work. Please let me know about your preparation too.
Best wishes,
Rahul/Rosy
The Season I Like Most
There are six seasons in Bangladesh. They are summer, rainy season, autumn, late autumn, winter and spring. Among them, the spring season is the one I like most. It is called the king of seasons. It comes after winter and brings new life to nature. The Bangla months of Falgun and Chaitra make up this lovely season.
I like spring because it removes the cold and gloom of winter and gives a fresh, pleasant feeling. The trees put forth new leaves, flowers bloom in abundance, and the sky looks clear and blue. Gentle breezes blow all around. Birds sing sweetly, and bees and butterflies move from flower to flower. Everywhere there is beauty, joy and freshness.
Spring also has a positive effect on our minds. It makes people cheerful and hopeful. Nature appears colourful and alive. Gardens, fields and roadsides look beautiful during this season. The weather is neither too hot nor too cold, so people feel comfortable.
Though spring is the most charming season, it has a few disadvantages too. Sometimes people suffer from small diseases like cold and fever. But these small problems cannot reduce its beauty and charm.
In short, spring is the most beautiful, pleasant and refreshing season. Its flowers, fragrance, softness and freshness attract me greatly. That is why I like spring most.
